Frankfort Factory — Affordance
Frankfort Factory is the collector edition of Affordance, Lionel Scharly’s line of intelligent street furniture. A white arched base carries a sculpted black backrest, and a built-in sensor lets passers-by check on their phone whether the seat is free. It was the first patented rotomoulded furniture made from eco-friendly plastic. Seats from the series were installed across Paris through the city’s Mobilier Urbain Intelligent program, and the design was auctioned at the French Consulate in New York and shown in design galleries in New York and Los Angeles. This piece is the last of the 50 samples produced — one of a kind.
